As proper medieval Lords and Ladies, we need to take time to thank our sponsors. For proper inspiration, we will first complete the following mini medieval lesson to better appreciate the written word.
Before Johannes Gutenberg invented the metal movable type printing press around 1450, all books and manuscripts were hand copied by monks. Gutenberg is widely considered the man of his millennium for bringing the world of knowledge to Medieval Europe. Johannes Gutenberg brought about a world of high speed knowledge to Medieval Europe that hadn't existed before.
His most famous manuscript was the Gutenberg Bible. The University of Texas here in Austin has one of the remaining copies of the Gutenberg Bible. Hook em! Check out a virtual exhibit of the Gutenberg Bible here: http://www.hrc.utexas.edu/exhibitions/permanent/gutenberg/
The Gutenberg Printing Press was the iPad of the Medieval Times. However, it wasn't as fast to access information as our iPads. The following short clip shows how books were made with the printing press. Enjoy! http://youtu.be/ksLaBnZVRnM

Inspired by Gutenberg and directed by your kingdom leader, we are now going to thank those who helped make medieval day possible.
First, (and most importantly) you need to thank your parents for helping you get ready for the day. Your kingdom leader has paper/pencils to design a medieval styled thank you card to make and take home to your parents. Your costume, supply fee, dancing instructor, and great looks were provided by your parents. Also, everyone needs to make at least one more card to thank our awesome volunteers. Possible thank-you's should go to the medieval day coordinators, the games coordinators, the banquet coordinators, your principal for supporting the day or anyone who helped you have a great day! The attachment below has more medieval inspiration for your thank you cards.
